Why an Instagram Reel will not download
A failed download does not always mean the link was copied incorrectly. Instagram can return different responses to the app, a logged-out browser, and a server. This guide separates the most common situations so you know what to check.
The link opens a profile instead of a video
Copy the link from the individual Reel or video, rather than the profile address. ReelDrop accepts public post links containing /p/, /reel/, or supported video paths. Re-copying the original share link is safer than guessing a post identifier.
Instagram says the post is unavailable
The post may have been removed, made private, restricted, or made available only after login. Check whether the same post opens in a logged-out browser. Access inside your Instagram account does not mean that an independent downloader can retrieve it. ReelDrop does not bypass private-account access.
The tool asks you to wait
Wait before trying again. Repeatedly submitting the same link can consume hosting resources and encounter more rate limiting. A temporary block can clear later, but there is no fixed time when every post becomes available.
A file does not appear after Download started
Check the browser Downloads list and any save prompt. Confirm that the browser has permission to save files. On a phone, look in Files or Downloads rather than only the photo gallery. Try the Download video button again if your browser blocked the automatic save.
The transfer stops partway through
Keep the page open, check your connection and available device storage, then try once more. The site checks the returned file size when the source provides it. Large videos can also reach hosting or request-duration limits.
What to send when reporting a problem
Use our contact page to send the public post link, the exact error text, and your browser and device type. Never send passwords, session cookies, API tokens or private-account credentials. You can return to the downloader to test another public video you have permission to save.
